Small Talks is a forum for Austin’s creative community to share and exchange ethical and practical discussion relevant to the local design industry.

About Herman Dyal

fd2s CEO Herman Dyal is a designer, strategist, and registered architect with more than 30 years of experience. Prior to founding fd2s (originally Fuller Dyal & Stamper) in 1985, Herman worked as an architect for Philip Johnson & John Burgee; Skidmore, Owings & Merrill; and Caudill Rowlett Scott. He received a master of architecture degree from Tulane University and a bachelor of architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He has served as a Visiting Artist at the University of Houston School of Art and a Visiting Critic at the Rice University School of Architecture.

Herman's work has received numerous honors and has been published in Communication Arts, Graphis, Print, How, Texas Architect, and various publications of the American Institute of Graphic Arts. He has been twice recognized by the American Center for Design.

At fd2s, he has led creative efforts for clients ranging from aviation industry leaders such as Embraer and Pilatus to retailers like Barnes & Noble and major institutions including Duke University, the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, and the Texas State History Museum.
