Deadline: AIGA Austin Board Nominations Get interested. Get involved.

This is an AIGA Austin event.
- Date

Sunday, April 10, 2005
- Description
-
Elections to our Board of Directors will be held in April and there are several positions to be filled. Nominate a friend or nominate yourself. We know, you’re shaking your head, saying, “But I’m so busy now, why add this to my list?” Okay, keep reading.
Reasons to Serve on the Board
- Want to make a difference? Want to give something back? Here’s a unique opportunity to make an impact and contribute to your community.
- Need a better job? Want to learn new skills? This is a great way to expand your design network while improving your leadership skills.
- Want your résumé to stand out? This will give you a chance to add something design professionals everywhere will value and respect.
- Looking for new friends? Here’s a great way to meet and work with more of the talented people in your community. Some could become lifelong friends.
How It Works
- Nominate a friend or a colleague—or yourself—by Sunday, April 10th.
- Email a short biography along with contact info to the elections nominating committee. Tell us why you would make a great board member.
- The nominating committee will review nominations carefully. A slate of nominees, in the form of an email, will be presented to the AIGA Austin membership for a vote.
- New board members attend their first meeting on May 29th.
Requirements
- Be (or become) a current AIGA member in good standing.
- Attend monthly board meetings. Executive board members are required to attend bi-monthly meetings.
- Serve a one- or two-year term. (See below.)
- No previous experience is necessary, just commitment and energy. A good sense of humor doesn’t hurt, either.
The following positions are up for grabs. Since we are staggering terms to avoid mass turnover in the future, some seats that normally require a two-year term will only require a one-year term (as indicated below). The goal is for only half of our Board to change hands every year, enabling us to maintain stability and effectiveness, while incorporating new energy and ideas. To learn more about any position, refer to the Board Role Descriptions (PDF) and Board Contract (PDF).
